
Attention young artists and writers! READING RAINBOW and MountainLake PBS are inviting youngsters to participate in its 15th Annual Young Writers & Illustrators Contest!
Children from kindergarten to third grade are encouraged to write and illustrate their own stories and enter them in READING RAINBOW’s Young Writers & Illustrators Contest, conducted by your local PBS station, Mountain Lake PBS.
This year’s timeline:
• Contest start date is January 5, 2009
• Visit ENTRY FORM, RULES and CONTEST GUIDE
• All entries are due at the station by March 13, 2009
• Studio contest party open to all 16 finalists will be held in June, 2009!
“READING RAINBOW’s Young Writers & Illustrators Contest encourages young people across the country to tell their stories in words and pictures,” said Dr. Twila C. Liggett, executive producer of the series.
Entries are judged in local contests. Each child who participates in the Contest receives a special Certificate of Achievement signed by READING RAINBOW’s host LeVar Burton. Four stories are chosen from each grade level. One winner from each grade level is sent to the national contest.
